SOLO PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION SHOWCASES THE LIGHT

Works by Award-Winning Photographer Capture Light to Reveal Certain Truths

Showcasing the Light”, a solo exhibition of more than 30 works by award-winning photographer Elizabeth Linares, will open with a reception, August 1, 2010 from 12 – 2:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Reston, 1625 Wiehle Avenue, Reston VA, and runs through September 5 on Sundays. The body of work reveals Linares’ inquisitive nature and intrigue with light – light’s innate ability to convey personality, mood and sentiment, and to reveal subjects and places as they are or should be. Composition is less central to her work than is capturing and interpreting light to reveal a greater truth or connect with a feeling or emotion.

Struck by life-changing events in the last year, Linares has emerged more centered and focused, with a spiritual foundation to her work. Her relationship with the Divine and the angels that surround her, as well as theta training have heightened her level of awareness and allowed her to set her intent when photographing new work.

A self-proclaimed light chaser, Linares channels natural light and connectivity through her photographs. Whether the subject matter is nature or a person of interest, she taps into a certain essence capturing truths. Her work clearly showcases feelings of love and joy radiating from her subjects, creating intimate, almost voyeuristic experiences. The ultimate goal of her work is to convey the world as she sees it, allow others to bear witness to the beauty and truth of light, and to connect with their spiritual selves.

Certified by the Washington School of Photography, Linares' work has been recognized nationally by the Washington Gallery of Photography in Washington, DC. She is a member of the League of Reston Artists.
